A home away from home.

A home away from home! Cosy, comfortable and classy. It was all I expected and more. Michael could not have been more helpful or friendly. Highly recommended!

I had a fantastic time at Michael and Beverly’s lovely home. The room was cozy and comfortable, and it smelled divine! I was only there one night, so I didn’t get to meet Beverly, but Michael couldn’t have been more accommodating. I was in town to meet my mother who was in Dover for one day as part of a cruise port of call. I had to get up really early to meet her ship. Michael was kind enough to rise early and cook me a delicious breakfast. And, do, do, do take the time to explore Dover Castle while you are there. A brilliant day out! I heartily recommend Michael and Beverly as hosts.

Recently stayed at Beverley and Michele’s wonderful town house set in the centre of Dover and it was great! My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay. Michael looked after us very well, especially breakfast! Very clean room and bathroom with great bath! Breakfast was delicious with choice! In terms of location we didn’t enjoy the local area too much, but as you get further towards the marina the sea front has little, but great to offer. We were very fortunate to have great weather so we hired bikes and had fish and chips on the beach! Overall, it was a lovely stay! Would definitely recommend, but not for a long stay!

We had a wonderful night at Beverly and Michael’s and we were sad to be leaving! the room was amazing and cosy with our own bathroom and everything was clean and neat when we arrived! Michael was very kind to pick us from the airport and he prepared an amazing breakfast for us in the morning. I would definitely recommend staying here as it is a great place with wonderful hosts! :)

The room was very comfortable with everything you would want. Easy access onto street.

Fijne ontvangst, goeie service, lekker ontbijt. Lage plafonds in de kamer.

Very artistic guest house, charming place, put together to the last detail, a wonderful dining area – 2 rooms only- one single and one double but the double one has low ceiling will not do tall people but I was fine :) loved the place. 1. It is advertised as a hotel but in fact this is a guest house. 2. very easy to find but outside had no sign that this is actually a hotel/guest house or something to ensure you that you are ringing the bell on the correct door – it had a small flag on the window that made my friend take the decision to ring the bell and try.

Beverly and Michael were wonderful hosts, there home was warm and inviting. The bed was a treat and so was the hot bath after a very exhausting day of travel. Thank you Michael also for the scrumptous breaky, truely British style. I really appreciated your shared knowledge of Dover and surrounding area with its magical history… I wish you both all the best in the future time. Again sincerely Thank you

The room was very clean and comfortable, with lots of British charm. The bed had a thick comforter and the bathroom was refurbished and modern. Michael has years of experience in customer service and was a great host. He made breakfast on my schedule and otherwise was very attentive to my needs and requests. The room had a kettle and all you needed to make coffee or tea. There is a heater you can control if it gets chilly at night. Michael has set out a lot of tourism information for you to examine. The room had a separate entrance, I could come and go without disturbing the household. It was only a 10 minute walk to the town center, maybe 15 to twenty minutes to the sea. Overall, a great place to stay. One word–if you are very tall, you’ll have to stoop through the doors and getting out of the tub.

This tiny B&B has two rooms, a double with its own entrance – and its own key – and a smaller room facing ghe garden. I stayed in the double, which has the most beautiful en suite I have ever seen. Everything is of the highest standard, the bed with its egyptian cotton bedlinen is perfect. The welcome i received from Michael when i staggered in, late on a cold wet night, was so kind and thoughtful – a glass of wine and a tasty snack, then Michael left me to enjoy the warmth and comfort of the room, and a hot bath in the impeccably clean and well appointed en suite. Everything is geared to their guests and their comfort and pleasure.

My stay at Beverly and Michael’s was a blissful interlude in 3 very busy days, and I couldnt have asked for a better place to stay. Michael was very accommodating about my late arrival, and welcomed me with a glass of wine and a snack. I’d want to return if I werent moving to Dover shortly, as it is, I’ve recommended them to everyone I know!

Great location, a beautiful room with all amenities, well maintained and in very good condition (and very rich breakfast!). It is a short walk to visit Dover Castle and the Cliffs and also there’s a bus stop in front of the house who brings to Canterbury in something like half an hour and is pretty cheap as well! I would definitely recommend it!

A wonderful place to stay. Dover is a great place to base yourself to look around the surrounding area. The room is spacious and cosy and close to transport. Michael is a great host and makes delicious breakfasts. I would definitely recommend staying here.

My wife and I booked for one night and ended up staying for two! Didn’t think there was much to see except for the white cliffs, we were so wrong. Still more to see so will have to come back again Michael. 299 London road is a little gem of a B&B. warm cosy room, comfy bed. Flat screen tv. All the little extras that set one b & b apart from another such as tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room, a great selection of DvdS if you want to stay in on a cold winter night, a good selection of restaurants and pubs within walking distance (reasonable prices as well) and to start the day a full (English) breakfast. The only drawback would be that there is only on street parking but the positives far out way this one little negative. I can truly say “superb” and we’ll d one to michael and Beverly. 5**

Michael is such a considerate and generous host, even waiting in the rain for me, while my late bus arrived at the station. You can be assured of a friendly and comfortable time here. I stayed in the upstairs room, and though smaller than the downstairs double in the pictures, it has a pretty window view of the garden, it’s own bathroom and the most luxurious bedding, for a perfect sleep. Great for a single person. You can look forward to the breakfast in the morning too!

Fantastic weekend in Dover, made all the better by 299 London road. Was advised to stay here by a friend and I was definitely impressed. Where to start… They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and I think Michael and Beverly take this motto to heart. Full English, sorted me out and put me in the right stead for a day sightseeing by foot.

The accomodation is nicely located, spotless, comfortable, quaint- while still having all the mod cons and most importantly hospitable. It felt like a home away from home and for that i am truly grateful.

I will be back, hopefully sooner rather than later.

I visited 299 London Road on August- vacationing around Europe in hotels was starting take a toll on me, they were nice but I wanted more home like feel while in Dover. I came across this lovely place while doing my research in airbnb and believe me, it was the best decision I made during the whole trip.

Bev came to my rescue to pick me up at the cruise terminal , calling it a rescue as it was my first time in Dover and it was a good feeling to have someone around to welcome me.

During my 3 days stay there I had a great time! My very friendly hosts Micheal and Bev were helpful and assisted me in my tour around Dover. House had all the facilities that I would find in mine in Hong Kong and breakfast was YUMMM! The house had a very vintage decor similar to mine in HK and I felt like being back home. By the end of 3rd day I had become very good friends with Bev and Micheal – it was kind of sad to leave but I had to. :)

On my way to Paris I promised myself that I would definitely visit 299 while I am in UK next time again… Thank you for your hospitality- I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at your very beautiful home. I will definitely be back for more…

Lovely home. Cosy, well furnished rooms and big bathroom. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and the best breakfast we’ve had since we arrived in England. Michael was a great host. Enjoyed our stay so much we booked for another 2 nights. So much to see in and around Dover. Will continue our exploration on our next visit to Kent.

Michael took my booking at the last minute and was also flexible with my work times which was much appreciated. I had the small double room which was fine for my needs. Michael is a nice guy, and if I’d had more time it would have been good to hear some of his stories from his merchant seaman days. The location of the house is good too as it’s only a 5 minute walk away from a variety of restaurants. Thanks Michael

Michael was the perfect host. He even put our teddy to bed when we were late back. Breakfasts were fantastic, and our rooms were warm, cosy and comfortable. We only wish we could have stayed longer. If you’re really tall you may need to stoop to get to the bathroom, but for shorties like us there was no problem. Michael drove us to the station after our stay – what service! We hope to get back to the UK next year, and will definitely stay here again. Thanks so much Michael. We loved it.

An easy stroll from the bus, train station and city centre. Michael and Beverly’s Bed and Breakfast is a great place to rest and relax. Michael is a very gracious and kind host who also is a whizz in the kitchen, delicious cooked breakfasts in a comfortable setting. The room furnishings are of a high quality with a classic style. It is very obvious that Michael and Beverly have an emphasis on excellent service with the room being spotless and all our needs being met. We will return again as it was the perfect getaway from the big smoke of London. Dover is a beautiful setting full of culture and history with excellent tourist attractions, a must for a UK visit. We would highly recommend Michael and Beverly’s accommodation when visiting Dover. (A&D Ferns)

Michael is a fantastic host!!! He met us at the train station after we got the bus from the ferry terminal and took us back to his house and he also dropped us off at Hertz in Dover the next morning so what more can you ask for. When we got to his house he had a beer with us and we talked for quite awhile. He also gave us a good recommendation for a nice pub not too far away. The accommodation was great, albeit that the rooms are typical low ceiling British style houses so it may not suit someone who is very tall! Michael also put on an excellent english breakfast in the morning!!! If you are looking for a nice relaxing stay in Dover with an excellent host then this is the place for you!!

Livia

No detail is over looked, everything is trimmed and beautiful! Aromatherapy in the bathroom, music and a posh electronic fireplace to create a warm atmosphere. We had a five star service and we simply adored our stay! If you are looking for a relaxing weekend don’t hesitate! Michael and Beverly’s accommodation is the right one!

I am from Germany and spent 4 weeks in Dover with Beverly and Michael and i enjoyed every single day. The whole house is very clean and has a fresh smell. I had my own bathroom, wich was in a mint condition with fluffy towels. The breakfast was like in a 5 stars hotel. In the evenings we often sat together in the garden with a nice barbecue and wine, so that I felt like a family member all time. If i made my trips, Michael took me to the station with his car and pickt me up. Sometimes we went together on excursions and Bev and Michael showed me nice places in the region. Both of them are very warm-hearted and lovely hosts and i say thank you both so much for the great time.

Michael was the best host one could hope for he picked me up at the station and dropped me off when I left, he was kind enough to wash my shirts and his breakfasts were great and we had god conversations. My accommodations were wonderful as I had my own private suite with my own entrance. I enjoyed my stay very much and wish it could have been longer .

Nancy

I had the best stay with these lovely people! Michael is absolutely the BEST – and do not miss his breakfasts! The room is spacious and perfectly neat and clean, the bed comfortable, the bathtub is amazing, and having the private entrance is a really nice touch. Michael not only picked me up at the train station, but also drove me around and helped me to find everything I could want/need. This was my first experience wtih AirBnB, and I could not be happier.

Hector

I only spent a couple of night here and wan’t expecting too much but was really pleased to stay at this place – a real gem! Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Michael served a brilliant breakfast and he went out of his way to make sure I was happy. Beverly is a champion too, she helped me get organised. I’ll be using this place whenever business brings me back to Dover. Thanks Michael and Beverly
Stayed September 2012, travelled on business

Had a great weekend staying at 299 London Road. Came upon this place by chance but what a find. Lovely room, WiFi, ipods – the works. Best breakfast we’ve had for a long time.Close to the castle (a bit of an uphill walk though), close to town and a great little pub. Will come back. Brian and Vicki – Melbourn
Room Tip: Ask for the lower ground floor if available – it’s bigger and has its own entrance if you want to stay out and party in downtown Dover!
